When we want to get away for some outdoor activities we head to Stowe, but not in the winter as you would probably expect. It is a favorite summer spot as well.
Our favorite place to stay is the Flake (http://www.stoweflake.com/) the spa is amazing and the outdoor pool is also very nice. This resort can be on the pricey side. When we are looking for a cheaper weekend we will stay at one of the less expensive hotels or even camp.
The best part of going there in the summer is Bingham Falls (http://www.northeastwaterfalls.com/waterfall.php?num=9&p=0) which is such an beautiful and amazing place. Bingham Falls is a series of cascades in a narrow gorge culminating in a 25' leap into a large round pool. The hike out to the falls is wonderful (though there are a couple of spots that are rather steap. While there be sure to jump into the water the top of the falls. It is an amazing experience.
When you are there be sure to make time for some of the other summer outdoor activities as well such as; horseback riding, biking, other hiking adventures, Canoeing & Kayaking and hot air balooning.
This is a place that you expect to spend a winter vacation, but it also truly enjoyable in the summer too. |
